A long-held tradition at the Bendigo Clay Target Club is the Australia Day Shoot which attract shooters from a wide area of Victoria.

This year the young Academy shooters were encouraged to enter and pit their skills against much older and more experienced shooters.

Cameron Ford, a past athlete [alumni 2020] won the overall championship.

Each of our current squad shot at least 27/30.

In the Grade Section – Roy Davis [13-year-old] won C Grade with a score of 30/30 and for his effort he collected $400 cash.

Liam Murray [17-year-old] missed his last target in the event qualification for a 29/30. Jordan Giudice [14-year-old] shot 27/30 and Cooper Leask [15-year-old] and Charlie Smith [14-year-old] shot 28/30.

The next event was the Handicap and Lachie O’Connor [17-year-old] won Overall with a score of 36/36. His prize was $500 cash.

In the last event Charlie Smith was placed 2nd in his grade winning 250 shotshells.

Congratulations to our squad coaches – Glenn Woodhatch and Dean Woodhatch, who do a magnificent job passing on their wealth of information and knowledge.

The Academy would like to thank the Bendigo Clay Target Club for their strong support of the Academy program and its athletes. Also special thanks to OTC [Outdoor Trading Company] for the sponsorship of shells for practice sessions.
