A long-held tradition at the Bendigo Clay Target Club is the Australia Day Shoot which attract shooters from a wide area of Victoria.
This year the young Academy shooters were encouraged to enter and pit their skills against much older and more experienced shooters.
Cameron Ford, a past athlete [alumni 2020] won the overall championship.
Each of our current squad shot at least 27/30.
In the Grade Section – Roy Davis [13-year-old] won C Grade with a score of 30/30 and for his effort he collected $400 cash.
Liam Murray [17-year-old] missed his last target in the event qualification for a 29/30. Jordan Giudice [14-year-old] shot 27/30 and Cooper Leask [15-year-old] and Charlie Smith [14-year-old] shot 28/30.
The next event was the Handicap and Lachie O’Connor [17-year-old] won Overall with a score of 36/36. His prize was $500 cash.
In the last event Charlie Smith was placed 2nd in his grade winning 250 shotshells.
Congratulations to our squad coaches – Glenn Woodhatch and Dean Woodhatch, who do a magnificent job passing on their wealth of information and knowledge.
