Calling all aspiring cyclistsupdated August 10, 2010

The Bendigo Bank Academy of Sport (BBAS) together with the support of the Regional Academy of Cycling Excellence (RACE) and our other valued sponsors wish to advise that we are calling for applications from emerging talented junior cyclists to take part in our 2011 Cycling Program .  The program seeks to offer suitable applicants the chance to access a quality coaching and sports science based program along with the opportunity to experience training and competing in a supportive team environment all with the aim of helping today’s talented cyclists become tomorrow’s stars.    Former graduates from the program include the likes of Glenn O’Shea, Zak Dempster, Thomas Hamilton, George Tansley, Shaun O’Callaghan, Imogen Jelbart and Toni Abbisogni who have achieved many outstanding results including World Titles, Australian representation, major race wins, and multiple Australian and Victorian Championship wins.
Applications to be part of this program are invited from both male and female cyclists who will be eligible for U15, U17 & U19 categories during 2011.

BBAS/RACE are looking to work with junior cyclists, parents and clubs to identify and develop emerging talented athletes who may not necessarily have established appropriate coaching and support networks.   Equally those that already have some coaching/support systems in place will undoubtedly benefit from the program offerings …… it’s not about taking kids away from their current club or coach, it’s more about working together and enhancing their development by providing an appropriate structure and resources.
Applications are now open and will close at 4.00pm Wednesday 8th September 2010.
